PHL brings 'fun' to the world via CNN
"It's More Fun in the Philippines." The Philippines is sharing this message across the world via a new international television campaign on global media giant Cable News Network (CNN).
According to the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT), it has released a new 30-second television commercial (TVC) where people from all walks of life say why they think it's more fun in the Philippines.
The DOT said the commercial begins with: “We asked people why it’s more fun in the Philippines….”
It then features creative memes, all contributed by the public.
In keeping with the campaign’s interactive theme, the TV ad ends by asking the viewers to explore the Philippines and answer the question: “What will you come up with?”

PHL to join world's largest tourism show with 'More fun' slogan
The Philippine government expects to make a good showing with its new slogan "It's More Fun in the Philippines" as it joins the annual International Tourismus Bourse (ITB), the world’s largest travel trade show, from March 7 to 11 in Germany.
Malacañang on Sunday said the Philippine delegation led by Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. expects to roll out the “It’s more fun in the Philippines” slogan on a global setting.
“Dito natin iro-rollout ang ‘It’s more fun in the Philippines’ on a global setting, in a global event. Importante ang participation kasi half ng tourists natin find out about the country through travel expositions,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said on government-run dzRB radio.

NAIA lowers to P550 terminal fee for intl flights
Passengers leaving for abroad through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport had one more reason to smile as the lowered terminal fee for international flights took effect Wednesday.
Many passengers looked happy with the terminal fee, which was rolled back to P550 from P750, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported.
While the roll back was announced last January, the P550 terminal fee took effect only on Wednesday.
Manila International Airport Authority general manager Jose Angel Honrado said the fee was rolled back because the five-year security development program has ended.

World's New 7 Wonders of Nature, Puerto Princesa Underground River
The Philippines' Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) is now officially among the world's new 7 wonders of nature (N7WN) based on the results of a global poll, Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn announced in a press briefing at the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City on Saturday.
Hagedorn said the inclusion of the 17-kilometer underground river “will boost not only tourism traffic in Puerto Princesa but also heighten the awareness on the need to protect the natural wonder.”
N7WN president Bernard Weber, who confirmed the triumph, was himself captivated by the PPUR in his visit to Palawan several months ago.

PH is world's 8th friendliest country: HSBC survey
Here is another reason why "it's more fun in the Philippines," as claimed by the country's new tourism slogan.
The Philippines is the eighth friendliest country in the world for expatriates, according to the results of HSBC's Expat Explorer Survey released last year.
HSBC surveyed 3,385 expats in 100 countries between May and July 2011, but the findings only ranked 31 nations because those with less than 30 respondents "were deemed statistically insignificant," Forbes.com reported.

DOLE: 4M overseas, local jobs await jobseekers in 2012
As many as four million local and overseas jobs will become available for Filipino jobseekers this year, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said yesterday.
Labor Undersecretary Danilo Cruz said at least 1.5 million jobs are projected to be generated by the local construction industry alone and another 1.5 million vacancies for those desiring to work overseas.
Cruz said the government is mounting massive infrastructure projects in 2012 that could create a minimum of 1.5 million to as many as 2.9 million local hires this year.
“We have big expectations in 2012 for local employment because of infrastructure projects to be funded by the government and private sector, and this could provide employment for engineers, heavy equipment operators, welders and other highly skilled workers,” he said.
