A United Arab Emirates (UAE) court on Wednesday sentenced a Filipino to three months in jail for sexually molesting his housemates in Dubai by secretly filming them while they were taking a shower.
The beginning of the footage showed the suspect’s face, prompting her to call her friend and tell her what she discovered, the report said.
The court found the 40-year-old Filipino guilty of breaching the Filipinas' privacy and molesting them by taking photos of them naked inside the bathroom, the news site Gulf News reported.
The judge ordered that the device and USB used to store the footage be confiscated.
The court also ordered his deportation once he serves his sentence. The judgment is subject to appeal in 15 days.
The defendant earlier pleaded guilty to installing a secret camera on the ceiling above the shower, claiming it was meant "to observe how much water my housemates consumed while taking a shower.”
However, prosecutors said he installed the camera so he could take secret video footage of his female housemates — aged 33 and 32 —while they were in the shower.
One of the women testified that she saw the Filipino entering their washroom even if he and his family use a separate washroom.
When she looked up at the ceiling, she noticed "tiny button-like lens" attached to a USB.
"I removed it and switched it off. I finished my shower and went to my laptop and plugged the USB into it. The device contained two recordings. One of them was of me having a shower...," she told Gulf News.

When the women confronted the defendant, he apologized and they asked him to leave the residence, it added.
