Pakistani tailor gets two years in jail for molesting Pinay co-worker in UAE

A United Arab Emirates (UAE) court sentenced a 28-year-old Pakistani tailor to two years in jail for assaulting and molesting a 40-year-old Filipina co-worker in an embroidery factory, a report of the news site Gulf News said on Monday.

The report said the Dubai Court of First Instance also ordered the Pakistani defendant deported after completing his jail term.

However, the Pakistani insisted that he did not molest the Filipina, saying "I am not guilty. I did not molest her."

The judgment remains subject to appeal within 15 days.

According to prosecutors, the Pakistani followed the Filipina into the kitchen where she was resting.

During the hearing, the Filipina testified that before the Pakistani molested her, he repeatedly whispered in her ear "I want you."

The suspect then reportedly groped the Filipina and prevented her from leaving the kitchen by tripping her.

When the Filipina fell on the floor, the Pakistani allegedly sat on her back and muzzled her.

"He beat me and groped my private parts three times. He put his hand strongly on my mouth and injured my lips," the Filipina told the court.

The Filipina fought back and managed to free herself.

"I bit his hand and threw him with a bottle. He got scared and moved away. Immediately I opened the window and cried for help. I told my boss what happened," she said in court.

She claimed that her boss asked her not to report the incident to the police and paid her Dh50 to go home.

However, the Filipina's co-worker informed the police, who then arrested the Pakistani.
