To give more time for OFW's to do their remittances, Social Security System (SSS) was extending the deadlines for OFW's contributions.
Joy Villacorta, the SSS OFW management manager said in her interview aired by Philippine Information Agency’s PTV4 and Radyo ng Bayan, that the Filipino workers abroad may send in any time until December their First and Third Quarter contributions.
Moreover, she said OFWs may pay their Fourth Quarter contribution until January 31st of the succeeding year.
Villacorta said they have been implementing this deadline extension since 2005 to spare OFWs from the inconvenience of going regularly to remittance centers.
She added that SSS now has a number-coding scheme for local voluntary-paying members, where the last digit of the member’s social security number will serve as the deadline for his contribution payment.
