A public bus driver faced a United Arab Emirates (UAE) court on Tuesday for allegedly groping and trying to kiss a Filipina passenger at the Dubai Investment Park.
The 35-year-old Egyptian driver of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), was accused of molesting the 32-year-old Filipina, the news site Gulf News reported.
During the hearing, the Filipina testified that the incident happened when she boarded an RTA bus.
She said she was the last passeger left on the bus. When she reached her stop, she asked the driver to open the door but he allegedly told her to kiss him if she wanted him to open the door.
She said the driver "came towards me and touched my breast and behind."
The driver, however, denied the charges against him when he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance, the report added.
He presented a written defense and asked the court to acquit him.
An Emirati officer confirmed that the woman had complained against the driver.
A verdict will be issued on June 19, the report said.
