Pinoy worker killed in UAE stone crushing plant accident

A Filipino machine operator was killed in an accident at a stone crushing plant in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday, the news site Gulf News reported on Tuesday.

Gulf News said initial police findings showed that the Filipino worker was operating heavy machinery without a license.

Citing an account of the Arabic daily Al Khaleej, Gulf News said the Filipino died instantly from severe injuries while operating the heavy machinery at the plant.

Major Rashid Al Hammoodi, Director of the Traffic Department at Masafi police, claimed that the accident occurred due to negligence and disregard of traffic laws and regulations.

The incident also prompted tight police inspection of more than 70 stone crushing plants in the emirate, the report said.
